ABOUT ZACHERY RYAN BALA

 

I am an aspiring journalist with a passion for sharing stories through photographs as well as the written word.

 

Since young, I have always been captivated by meeting people from different backgrounds and listening to their stories, in search for an outlet to share what I learned, I turned to journalism which I have used as a tool to share those stories.

 

In my third year in Republic Polytechnic, I underwent a 20-week internship with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Public Affairs Department which gave me many hands-on opportunities to go out, cover events and write articles for their monthly publication 'Police Life'

 

After returning from my internship, I was given the opportunity to lead the News Desk for the school newspaper, The Republican Post. I leaped at the opportunity and took up the role of News Editor during my final semester in school. 

 

I believe that in today's media landscape, it is important to be proficient on as many platforms as possible. With that in mind, I never confined myself to just writing as that is my focus but other platforms as well such as broadcast journalism.
